Downeast Scenic Railroad offers a 10-mile round trip train ride from Ellsworth where locals can spot wildlife like eagles, moose, deer, beavers, and more. Timber Tina’s Great Maine Lumberjack Show is an attraction with ax throwing, log rolling, shopping, power hot sawing, pole relay, pole climbing, and many more events. Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary is a 200-acre preserve with interconnected trails, wildlife, animal shows, a nature center, and educational classes. Branch Lake is a source of drinking water for the community and has strict regulations, but it is open for boating and fishing and has beautiful sitting and hiking areas around the lake. The annual Downtown Cider and Cheese Festival is a fun community event with vendors, local food and drink, live music, and activities.
